Install Saytu
Saytu is an app on Shopify and one line of code on any other website. Both show the same character and answer from your own store.
On Shopify
- Install Saytu from the Shopify App Store.
- Approve access. Saytu reads your products, pages, policies, orders, fulfillments, inventory and discounts. It never changes any of them.
- The setup wizard opens. At Try & activate, choose Open Theme Editor, switch Saytu on under App embeds, and save.
- Open your storefront once. Saytu detects the widget and marks your store live.
Plans are billed through your Shopify bill. You can turn the widget off the same way you turned it on, in the Theme Editor.
On any other website
Paste the embed code once, on every page, just before the closing </body> tag. Every site builder has a place for code like this:

- 1Install a header/footer scripts plugin (e.g. WPCode or “Insert Headers and Footers”).
- 2Open its settings and find the Footer / Body section.
- 3Paste the embed code there and save.
Your embed code looks like this, with your own key in it. Paste it exactly as Studio gives it to you.

Open any page of your site once, then choose Check live signal in Studio. You'll see one of these:
| Result | What to do |
|---|---|
| Live, the widget loaded on your site | Nothing. You're done. |
| Snippet found, but no load recorded yet | Open any page on your site once, then check again. |
| Couldn't find the snippet | If you added it through Google Tag Manager or your site renders it with JavaScript, the check can't see it. Open a page once and the widget reports in by itself. |
| Couldn't reach the site | Make sure the domain is public, then try again. |
Your widget only loads on the domain you set in Studio. If it appears on another domain but doesn't answer, that is why.
What's different off Shopify
On other websites Saytu answers from the pages you import and the FAQs and notes you write. Live order status, product cards, cart context and the product-page greeting need Shopify, because they read your Shopify store directly.
